Need of Dental Fillings
The kind of dental fillings you have has no relation with braces treatment. The fillings are for the cavity in your teeth. That is the reason, before the beginning of the braces treatment your dentist will have a thorough check of your teeth, gums and mouth to verify their structure. If there are any cavities then they will be filled before the braces are placed.
When you need a dental filling, you have many choices. Different types of fillings are better for different dental conditions your dentist will help you decide which type of filling is right for you.
Types of Dental Filling
When teeth are crowded, keeping them clean becomes very difficult. If brushing is not done regularly, tooth decay, gum disease and possible tooth loss can occur. An improper bite can interfere with your ability to chew and speak properly. If your teeth are protruding and/or your upper and lower teeth don't come together comfortably jaw problems also may arise. Therefore, by keeping your teeth in the proper alignment dental braces do more than keep your smile looking good. They also help you keep your teeth and gums strong and also help in keeping your oral activity healthy.
A person typically inherits tooth spacing, crowding, or similar problems from their parents. However, these irregular spacing between the teeth may be caused by habits such as thumb-sucking , mouth breathing due to allergies or large tonsils, premature loss of teeth , and generally begin to appear at the time when the permanent teeth start to erupt. Therefore, orthodontic treatment with dental braces should begin between the ages of eight and 14 in order to achieve optimal results. Also, dentists are better able to spot developing teeth and jaw growth at this time in a child's life. This enables them to judge problems that may arise and plan braces treatment accordingly.
The conclusion is that you can use any kind of braces without bothering about the kind of fillings you have on your teeth. The dental fillings of teeth is done by a general dentist where as treatment of braces is done by an Ortho dentist. The general dentist would first check your teeth and then do the fillings and possibly cap them later on another day. Then you need to go to the orthodontist for initial examination to find out about the kind of braces that are going to be right for you. They might ask you to get x-rays and only then would the Orthodontist be able to make braces for you depending on the type of treatment you require.
